Over the last several months we have captured over a dozen raccoons in the daytime which were behaving abnormally. I thought I would take some time today to discuss the potential causes of raccoons being out in the daytime acting clumsy, disoriented, or aggressive.

It is a common assumption that if you see a raccoon in the daytime it has rabies. This is frequently a false assumption. Raccoons are primarily nocturnal but sometimes are seen in the daytime, even when perfectly healthy.
